Unlocking Canton with DAML: Creating the Future of Finance

6 tutorials
beginner

Digital assets and on-chain finance hold incredible promise, but they face a fundamental challenge. How do you get different global institutions, who don't necessarily trust each other, to work together, while also making sure everything is private, consistent, and settled without risk, just like regulators want?

Imagine a world where complicated deals involving multiple parties can all happen perfectly, in sync. By creating a shared ledger that respects each institution's boundaries, this "synchronized finance" lets transactions settle instantly, boosts liquidity, and opens the door to exciting new financial products. But to build this, we need a new kind of system. A system that's better than the all-or-nothing privacy of public blockchains and the slow pace of traditional systems.

That’s where the Canton Network comes in — the first privacy-enabled blockchain network purpose-built for institutions. Launched to bridge the gap between traditional finance and decentralized markets, Canton offers a complete infrastructure designed to tackle the main challenges that stop institutions from getting involved.
